Our Approach
At Changing Tides, we believe that every life — and every ending — deserves to be witnessed with care.
We offer practical guidance and emotional support through ceremonies, storytelling, and personalised rituals that reflect your values and wishes.
We are not a medical service or counselling practice — our role is to hold space, create meaning, and walk beside you through one of life’s most human experiences.

Our Vision
Our Vision
We envision a world where death is not feared, hidden, or rushed — but met with care, ceremony, and community.
A world where grief is not something to fix, but something to honour.
Where families feel supported, not overwhelmed.
At Changing Tides, our vision is to bring death back into the heart of life — with tenderness, transparency, and timeless ritual.

A Family's Story We Supported

When Ally and her family reached out to Changing Tides, the air was heavy with uncertainty and sadness. Ally’s prognosis was unclear, but time was slipping away faster than anyone hoped. In a quiet hospital room on the Central Coast, Chris and Jenny, the co-founders and hearts behind Changing Tides, met Janet, a woman eyes sparkled with life despite her frailty. Over a gentle conversation, Chris and Jenny listened as Ally shared her wishes: to feel surrounded by love, to share her stories, and to leave her family with memories that would outlast her. When Jenny Changing Tides suggested a living wake, Ally’s face lit up. “Yes,” she said, her voice steady with newfound strength. “That’s exactly what I want.” For the first time in weeks, Ally felt empowered, as if she could shape her final chapter.

Time was not on their side. As Ally’s condition worsened more quickly than expected, Jenny and Chirs sprang into action, condensing a couple of months of planning into weeks. Every detail had to honour Ally’s spirit. They sourced the Central Coast for the perfect spot, settling on the Secret Garden, a hidden oasis of lush and peaceful green gardens. Changing Tides coordinated catering, choosing Ally’s favourite comfort foods and music. Carefully thought arrangements of her beloved wildflowers and candles created a mood of celebration and love.

The day arrived, and the Secret Garden hummed with love. Family and friends gathered, their faces a mix of joy and quiet grief. Ally, though weak, was radiant.  The ceremony was simple yet profound. One by one, loved ones shared stories. Ally too spoke, her voice soft but clear, sharing gratitude and love, her words weaving everyone closer. A wish jar sat at the centre, where family and friends tucked away handwritten notes, promises, memories, and hopes to carry forward. It would be a keepsake for Ally’s family, a tangible piece of her heart.

In that sacred space, grief and love intertwined. The living wake lifted the weight of planning a traditional funeral, freeing Janet and her family to simply be together. There were tears, yes, but also laughter, hugs, and the warmth of shared moments. Janet wasn’t just remembered; she was seen, her life celebrated while she could still feel its glow.

As the sun set, over the garden, Jenny and Chris watched Ally’s family hold each other a little tighter. The burden of what was to come felt lighter, if only for a moment. Changing Tides had done what it always set out to do: create a space where love could triumph the feelings of loss and grief, where Ally’s legacy was woven not in sorrow, but in the beauty of a life shared.
